My friend asked me the other day: “How do I make money on the net? “. "I want a part time job and I want to work from home."

I told him: “Find a product or service and sell it at a huge profit without a middleman reaching out to the direct consumer and make a ton of money “ .
“But I don’t have a service or product, can I still make some money?”
That got me thinking.

The net is a huge market place and contrary to perception, nothing is truly free. One may get a few samples (a few articles, some video or song, some information) free but for tasting the real thing; one has to pay, just like a physical market place. How can I make money without anything to sell? As I thought a bit , I realized that there is one crucial difference in this virtual market place and the real physical market , in that, both the seller and the buyer is faceless and the market is huge , almost the whole world. There must be a few legitimate ways to make some money, I thought. After all the market is the world and the number of consumers is in billions. There must be a way to work from home, as a part time job and make decent money.

What can be my role? What can I contribute or offer for sale?
What is my profile?

I am a consumer and a potential buyer on the net. I can also do some web marketing and am reasonably well educated. I can work part time from home and would be happy with any kind of decent work or job.

Can I make money answering surveys and filling up questionnaires? *** Low Value Job.

After all I am a consumer and my opinions and habits may reflect a cross section of people. I went looking and realized that yes! I can make money answering questions. There are a few legitimate sites (PR / Advertising agencies and net test marketing agencies) like globaltestmarket.com that are legitimate and offer cash or credit for taking targeted surveys and answering questions .But most of them are scams. When ever a site asks you to buy a membership – beware. Whenever something is being offered free – beware of a catch. Read the fine print. But the amount of money promised and actually paid is very different. Maybe I did not get the right guys. Try with a few sites and see the response . Keep trying and you may hit the mother lode. But I think, the guys offering paid surveys made more money than me! However, I do feel that one must at least try once. As they say , nothing ventured , nothing gained. So explore the opportunities that exist and try your luck. Check the response from various websites and keep your eyes and ears open. This gives much needed free information .
Screen out the websites asking for money and go with the ones offering surveys on behalf of well known brand names in the world. Make sure you are eligible for taking the survey. It may be important to live in a certain physical location to be eligible.

Can I make money doing desktop jobs and punching data at home? *** Low paying job

Yes, some companies offer this service. It is legitimate, but pick the right company or be prepared to work for free. I suggest visiting some discussion forums and checking out the information available and the experiences of various people, who have gone through the process, to come to any conclusion. Try to understand the type of work offered by various companies. Explore and use common sense to get the best work possible. Do not be satisfied with low value work. Normally more complicated the work , higher the payment. The kind of part time job most of these companies offer may not satisfy all, so keep exploring and you may find something good.
You desperately want typing work? Why don’t you tie up with companies willing to pay for transcription or back process work? Look for offers on the net for companies who are offering such kind of work. Explore opportunities for high value work and pick and choose the ones that can offer value added typing work. Many companies in India, Europe and U.S.A. offer this kind of work so keep exploring.


Can I make money expressing my opinion and thoughts? *** High Ideas

Blogs are written on almost every conceivable subject. Anyone can write blogs but advice given in blogs is free and who will pay to listen to your comments or thoughts whatever they may be. But there is a way to monetize these blogs and for this we need to understand the Google adSense program. All of them speak of making huge amounts of money daily. But be realistic! . Even if you are able to make USD 10- 15 a day , it should provide a decent side stream of income. There are many companies with products which are not selling well on the internet and they would be happy to share some profit with you if you help them sell it . Or the products may already be bestsellers and if you wish to partake of the profits, you may enroll in an affiliate program. Generally bestsellers will offer lower profit sharing (commissions) than slow sellers. This is quite obvious to any reasonable thinker.
The issue of affiliate programs is quite legitimate and is ideal for any person who does not have a personal product or service to sell. I suggest browsing through the websites of reputable companies and finding out if they have an affiliate program to offer. The commissions may be slightly lower, but legitimacy is important on the net. So go for it. There are many websites offering hundreds of legitimate and not so legitimate programs for a fee, which may be avoided. If you are tempted by the hot selling promise, go ahead and try your hand.
